The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the implementation of business initiatives across public cloud domains. This is a technical position with understanding of the different services and functionality available within Microsoft Azure/Google Cloud Platform, central to the position. It is expected that the Cloud Engineer can contribute to solution design as well articulate this back to the business with clarity. Designed and/or implemented business solutions will have been considered fit for purpose on several levels notably, cost, requirement, resilience, performance, security and future proofing/improvements. This person would also be key in the distribution of knowledge and skills around cloud services to the wider Technology team/members including Data Science Team. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration are expected to support monolithic databases during their transformation.

What you’ll do
Cloud Solutions Implementation - Collaborate with other engineers/technology professionals to implement and thoroughly test a business solution on cloud by completing all requirements.
Continuous Learning - The Engineer is expected to always be up to speed with latest Cloud Services innovations, looking for ways to use those in the business to make continuous improvements to business continuity, performance, security and costs savings.
Creating best practices - Contribute to creation of best practices and standards on cloud which must be followed when creating any business solutions by all Technology teams.
Cloud Solutions Design - The person must contribute to creation of design for various cloud-based business solutions.
Training - Spread the knowledge learned across Technology. Train colleagues how to work with various services on cloud and what standards and best practices to follow.
Documentation - Create required documentation to meet business objectives and compliance requirements.
Monitoring and Support – Ensure any services that the team owns are always in best health, respond to incidents be it outage or security breach.
What we’re looking for
Experience in Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
Minumum 3 years of experience in cloud engineering
Experience in planning, designing, building and implementing cloud services with non-functional requirements
Experience in networking and security
Experience administering Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems
Experience in writing infrastructure as code scripts (ARM Templates, Python, PowerShell, Bash, T-SQL)
Experience working with relational database technologies (MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience in optimizing workloads, reducing run times for automated processes
Experience in CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps)
Knowledge in NoSQL database technologies
Knowledge in configuration/orchestration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, DSC)
Microsoft Azure Administrator certified or future equivalent
Advantageous - working with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Advantageous - knowledge about Data Science tools (Google/Jupiter Notebooks)
Advantageous – other latest Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform certifications
