Commissioning Editor - Randburg at Media24 (Pty) Ltd

Main purpose of the role: 

To direct creative unscripted plans for local television productions and to manage commissioned programming through its lifecycle from development to after broadcast.

Requirements:

• A Degree or Diploma in Film and Television/ Scriptwriting/Film Production/Creative Writing.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in film and television production or a similar role.
• Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular).
• Fluency in Afrikaans, both written and spoken.
• Excellent project management skills and editorial judgment.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive monthly reviews of completed shows.
• Evaluate and scrutinise producers' budgets pre-contracting, ensuring strict adherence to budget and proposal specifications.
• Monitor and authorize barter exchanges,.
• Collaborate with the Head of Content to efficiently oversee the AFP process, encompassing format approval, budget submissions, and approvals for talent and crew.
• Provide strategic editorial input in the creative development of shows, maintaining transparent communication with producers.
• Ensure the quality of all graphic elements, encompassing visuals, text, and spelling.
• Supervise casting processes to guarantee participants and presenters align with the VIA target market.
• Generate, assess, and select content ideas in alignment with the content strategy.
• Cultivate and sustain productive relationships with producers, ensuring prompt feedback.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Content to align VIA's content strategy with the Afrikaans market.
