    Compliance and Firearm Training Officer

    Job Context    

    • Servest Security has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance and Firearm Training Officer to join the training team.  The primary responsibility of a Compliance & Firearm Training Officer is to ensure that security personnel, firearm-related activities, and operational procedures comply with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, company policies, client requirements and strict compliance to the Firearm Control Act 60 of 2000, while ensuring that personnel remain properly trained and competent.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12
    • Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practitioner (ODETDP) qualification
    • Must have Valid and updated SAPS Firearm Competency certificate
    • Must have National Key Point accreditation
    • Must be a Registered SASSETA Assessor
    • Must be a registered Firearm Accredited training officer with PFTC
    • Must be a qualified Range Officer
    • Registered PSIRA Grade A Instructor
    • 2 Years Security Operational experience
    • 3 Years training experience as Facilitator/Assessor/Moderator
    • 2 Years Facilitator/Assessor Experience
    • 2 Years Range Officer experience
    • Firearm Specialist knowledge, training and facilitation skills, assessment and competency evaluation, compliance and auditing skills
    • Riot and Intervention training (Advantageous) 
    • Own vehicle 
    • Clear criminal record

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Plan, schedule and implement compliance and operational training interventions in line with the company’s needs, Skills Matrix and client-specific requirements.
    • Identify core training requirements and ensure that appropriate training interventions are planned and implemented effectively.
    • Conduct and facilitate various compliance, operational and firearm-related training interventions.
    • Provide on-the-job and off-the-job coaching to employees to improve knowledge, competency and overall business performance.
    • Prepare learners for assessments and conduct formative assessments in accordance with applicable training requirements.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions and recommend or implement improvements to training content, materials and delivery methods.
    • Liaise with the Training Administrator to compile and maintain training materials, learner documentation, attendance records and evaluation reports.
    • Design, review and maintain accurate, relevant and legally compliant learning and training materials.
    • Maintain all prescribed training and compliance records, including daily attendance registers, Firearm Control Registers and Shooting Range Registers.
    • Conduct and complete moderation reports and ensure that all required supporting documentation is maintained.
    • Provide timely and accurate feedback to learners and management regarding training outcomes, competency gaps and areas requiring further development.
    • Complete and submit all relevant monthly training, compliance and operational reports within the required timeframes.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, organisational policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 (FCA) and associated firearm-control requirements.
    • Monitor compliance with approved training standards, firearm-control requirements and client specifications.
    • Identify training and compliance gaps and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
    • Provide accurate reports and promptly escalate critical compliance risks, non-compliances and findings to management.
    • Monitor identified non-compliances and follow up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented and closed out within the required timeframes.
