Construction Health & Safety Officer ( Paleisheuwel)
The successful candidate will be responsible for Health and Safety.
Requirements
Coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste.
Attend Occupational Health & Safety Committees meetings.
Report and investigate all applicable incidents/ accidents.
Conduct project and facility health and safety inspections.
Liaise with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies.
Prepare, organise and maintain inspection data, reports and systems to control project SHE plans.
Develop and implement health and safety awareness at all levels within the organisation and projects.
Develop, review and update appropriate sections of the projects/company Emergency Procedures and Plans.
Continual promotion of the health and safety ethos and culture at all levels in the Company and with sub-contractors.
Investigate and report complaints of hazardous working conditions to the project or line manager and/or other appropriate senior management.
Implement and/or monitor the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Programs, Plans and Procedures.
Assist the business and projects in complying with current health and safety legislation and/or regulations with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of staff client, visitors and contractors.
Coordinate the training of personnel in areas of HSE, including accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing HSE procedures.
Generate pro-active plans / actions to reduce incidents or construction delays.
Assume other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
Driver’s licence and own transport.
National Diploma in Safety Management equivalent.
Knowledge of the ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
3-6 years’ experience in the engineering and construction industry.
Computer literacy skills e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
Registered as Construction Health and Safety Officer with SACPCMP
Extensive experience as a safety officer within the Transmission and Distribution or Power Stations
projects.
Knowledge and understanding of OHS Act and other legislation that have an impact on safety activities particularly engineering, design, and construction activities.
Personal attributes
Ability to manage projects HSE effectively.
Ability to interact and work on different levels.
Ability to perform Risk Assessments and develop Fall Protection Plans.
Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimal supervision.
Have good communication and negotiating skills to ensure the implementation of OH&S legislation.
