    Control Assessment Assistant Manager

    Job Description
    Good risk and control management is the foundation of excellent performance and is a characteristic of a high performing business. Each event or control failure can slow us down and will cost us time and money to resolve. They can often impact our clients and our reputation and even slow our growth and future development.

    We are seeking an Assistant Manager to support and drive the strengthening of our control environment. The candidate will be assisting in delivering a Sanne wide controls assessment framework, including performing Thematic Reviews, Control Testing, Root Cause Analysis and Gap Analysis.

    The candidate will need to be flexible, meticulous, curious, and collaborative to discover how things operate and understand whether our controls are working or not. This role will be suited to candidates that have control testing experience or entry-level internal auditors, internal audit trainees, or those that have completed internal audit internships. The role will particularly those who have a keen interest in expanding on their audit/testing skillset within a Risk function.

    Requirements
    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform thematic reviews, control testing and various analysis on a risk-based approach (i.e. key controls, higher risk processes), producing quality scoping documents, process mapping and reports for stakeholders and senior management, suitably informing of control adequacy and effectiveness;
    • Support Control Assessment Senior Manager and business management to drive efficiencies through standardisation, implementation or removal of controls; (i.e. identification of control gaps, over control, inadequate/ineffective controls and make value-added recommendations);
    • Monitor and analyse relevant control environment, recommending possible control assessments or follow-up reviews;
    • Actively contribute into the development, governance and maintenance of the Control Library, driving increased effective use;
    • Actively contribute into the continual enhancement of our ‘Control Framework’ (i.e. our approach to reviews, testing and Control Library);
    • Support the Control Assessment Senior Manager and Director, Risk Framework to ensure plans and outputs suitably and efficiently inform stakeholders, Chief Risk Officer and our risk assessments in a timely and efficient manner;
    • Provide efficient, non-duplicated coverage, working closely with Internal Audit and Compliance;

    Skills

    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a risk, audit or control testing role. It would highly advantageous if this was in the Fund Administration industry;
    • Experience of completing thematic reviews and control testing, including scoping, process mapping, testing, and report writing; proficient in Office 365;
    • Experience of performing root cause analysis and gap analysis;
    • Excellent communication and engagement skills at all levels across numerous jurisdictions, both written and verbal;
    • Strong organisational skills and be able to deliver quality outputs, with a strong ability to work independently and in a remote team and reprioritise your workstack to suit changing business priorities and tight timelines;
    • Ability to learn and understand key business processes, internal controls, and develop meaningful tests to determine whether controls are operating effectively and as expected;
    • Experience of a Risk Management Framework; theory and practical use particularly Control Adequacy and Effectiveness testing or Risk Assessments;
    • An industry recognised audit or risk qualification would be advantageous.
