    Control & Instrumentation Engineer (EPC Mining Process Plants – PrEng/Pr.Tech) - Sandton

    • The incumbent will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Engineering,
    • Pr.Eng/Pr.Tech. registered
    • Relevant post graduate qualifications albeit technical, management or business related could be advantageous.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the project engineering environment.
    • At least 2 years Plant Commissioning experience

    Knowledge required:

    • PLC’s programming and fault diagnostics.
    • Instrumentation calibration and fault finding.
    • Instrumentation specification.
    • Control system specification.
    • Understanding of P&ID’s and PFD’s
    • In depth understanding of networks and communication protocols
    • Budgeting principles and control.

    Skills:

    • Designing and developing new control systems
    • Maintaining and modifying existing systems
    • Managing operations
    • Working collaboratively with design engineers, purchases and other internal staff
    • Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities
    • Project managing within cost and time constrained environments
    • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
    • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards
    • Writing computer software
    • Commercial awareness.
    • Team leadership skills.
    • Listening to, interpreting and understanding feedback from clients and team members.
    • Interpersonal motivational skills.
    • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
    • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
    • Planning, design, specification, costing, procurement, reporting, construction, commissioning and handover on Electrical system packages.
    • Provide technical leadership to all dependent project disciplines.
    • Management of suppliers and sub-contractors.
    • Maintain the ECSA professional registration and manage own development.
