    Coordinator II: Events (P8) (University Relations: Events)

    Job Description:

    • To plan, organise, manage, implement and evaluate all UJ Graduation Ceremonies, as well as other high-profile events as required.

    Responsibilities:
    Duties include the following:

    • Oversee policy and protocol of UJ graduations and other events.
    • Plan and execute UJ graduations, as well as other VC, corporate and special (ad-hoc) events, as required.
    • Consult and advise UJ stakeholders with regard to other events..
    • Evaluate events.
    • Ensure UJ’s compliance with legislation and statutes (from a disaster management perspective).
    • Manage and build relationships with clients and suppliers.
    • Keep abreast of the environments, developments, and trends in the events coordination environment.

    Minimum requirements

    • NQF7 qualification in a relevant field (Project Management, Hospitality, Marketing and Public Relations).
    • 3-5 Years relevant experience
    • Driver’s License.

    Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

    • Excellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal communications skills.
    • Good Project management skills.
    • Good time management skills.
    • Proficiency in the use if Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • Strong interpersonal relationships, with the ability to relate with all levels of management, staff and contractors.
    • Flexibility to work within an environment where competing and changing priorities exist, with processes developed quickly to ensure quality outcomes that best meet business needs.
    • Ability to work with other team members to achieve outcomes.
    • Ability to apply judgement, interpretative skills and informed decision making.
    • Planning and organising.
    • Budgeting skills for events co-ordination.
    • Problem solving and the ability to improvise.
    • Detail conscious.

    Recommendations:

    • Experience in a higher education environment.
    • Diploma in relevant field (for example, events management/Public Relations/Project Management).
