Coordinator Operation Control Centre - Hotazel at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

• The purpose of the role is to monitor and report on daily production, monitor mine environment, and communicate emerging issues and action safe response, coordinate and monitor surface operations to ensure adherence to safety and emergency measures, production parameters and standards and to coordinate emergency/incident response.  

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 with Mathematics or N3 Technical Certificate (external candidates) and a minimum of 5 years mining/underground/surface/plant experience;
• Computer literacy in MS Office Suite, ESS,Adroit is essential;
• Knowledge pertaining to basic fleet monitoring and dispatch system, Health, Safety and Environmental principles in and around a workplace is essential;
• Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations and definitions is essential;
• Knowledge of the relevant terminology used in mining is essential;
• Demonstrate an understanding of typical basic surface mining services, processes and layouts is essential;
• Read surface mining plans is essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Manage shift handovers;
• Coordinate planned activities according to production schedules and allocate resources as required;
• Coordinate and monitor mining, plant and engineering operations to ensure adherence to safety and emergency measure, production parameters and standards;
• Monitor, gather, consolidate production information and changes, and communicate to relevant stakeholders to minimize production delays – including initiating callouts;
• Monitor and analyse surface operations efficiencies to recommend or implement improvement/changes to maximize operational outcomes;
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders of the production process to ensure operational optimization;
• Monitor and control OCC Systems: Fire and Lightning Detection and issuing of keys – report emerging issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate actions of safe response;
• Create work orders for equipment breakdowns, record breakdown data (incl. artisan feedback), and coordinate the repair and return to production of TMM;
• Coordinate the activities of maintenance personnel that is attending to machine and equipment breakdowns or issues affecting machine performance during the shift.
