Purpose of the Role:

• Calculate and estimate cost for Electrical & Engineering tender projects. Bidding on or determining the price of electrical/industrial tenders/projects. This role is crucial in determining project feasibility, preparing competitive bids, and ensuring profitability.

Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• ND in Electrical Engineering (Compulsory)
• B-Tech in Electrical Engineering (Advantage)
• ECSA Membership / Member of a Proposals Professional Body (Advantage)

Required Experience:

• 3-5 years of formal estimating experience on industrial electrical projects.
• 3-5 years Experience in reading and analysing requests for proposal (RFPs) and requests for quotation (RFQs).
• 3-5 years Experience in reading and analysing technical requirements and drawings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Assessment:

• Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the tender requirements of a project.
• Analyse requirements, drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labour estimates.
• Develop and submit competitive project bids, ensuring all estimates align with project guidelines and profitability goals.

Cost Estimation:

• Calculate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment needed for electrical installations.
• This includes determining wire lengths, outlet placements, and the type and cost of fixtures.
• Conduct cost analyses to ensure profitability of the project is maintained.

Bid Preparation:

• Planning, architecting, and controlling the submission of large proposal and tender documents ensuring that submission deadlines are met, and the business submits the best proposal possible.
• Building most of the proposal / tender documents from existing generic content in consultation with the engineering team, sales team, projects team and management.
• Improving and updating existing generic content used within proposal documents
• Writing and editing new content which can be subsequently reused in future tender/proposal documents
• Understanding design and installation requirements from documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc)

Collaboration:

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to define project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
• Liaison with customers, partners & suppliers (Understand Requirements of customers/partners Suppliers)
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors/suppliers/partners/OEMs

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure all electrical designs and estimates comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.

Risk Analysis:

• Identify potential risks and challenges in projects and propose solutions to mitigate them.
