Data & Analytics Senior Associate at PwC South Africa

Role Purpose 

• We are seeking an individual with practical technical skills to support the delivery, review and assessment of technology-enabled solutions within the Data Technology Consulting team. 
• This role combines hands-on technical work with analytical review and client support. The successful candidate will contribute to software and data-related solutions, assist in evaluating client environments and approaches, and support work delivered in governance, regulatory and audit-focused contexts. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Apply business and data analysis techniques to understand client challenges, identify requirements, assess solution options and support the delivery of practical outcomes. 
• Support the development, enhancement and maintenance of software and data-related solutions. 
• Review and assess client technology solutions, processes and controls, identifying gaps, risks and improvement opportunities. 
• Assist clients and internal stakeholders in understanding technical issues, implementation considerations and practical solution options. 
• Develop and maintain code, with a primary focus on Python. 
• Write and maintain SQL to support analysis, reporting and solution requirements. 
• Contribute to cloud-based and broader technical solution delivery where required. 
• Support testing, validation, documentation and implementation activities. 
• Prepare clear written outputs, including technical findings, working papers and delivery documentation. 
• Work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across internal and client-facing engagements. 

Essential Skills and Experience 

• Ability to gather, analyse and document business requirements and translate these into technical solutions or recommendations. 
• Practical experience in software development or technical solution delivery. 
• Working capability in Python and SQL. 
• Ability to analyse and review technical solutions, processes or controls. 
• Good problem-solving and technical reasoning skills. 
• Ability to communicate technical matters clearly, both verbally and in writing. 
• Experience contributing to delivery, testing, support or review activities in a professional environment. 

Desirable Skills and Experience 

• Experience with other programming languages or frameworks such as C#, .NET, Node.js, Angular or similar. 
• Exposure to data management and data governance concepts. 
• Exposure to cloud technologies and environments. 
• Exposure to solution, application or cloud architecture concepts. 
• Understanding of data engineering fundamentals. 
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI. 
• Experience in regulated, control-focused or audit-related environments. 
• Knowledge of regulatory or compliance frameworks such as BCBS 239, IFRS standards, or similar. 
• Experience in financial services, risk, audit, reporting or compliance-related domains. 
• Relevant certifications in cloud, architecture or related technical areas.

Qualifications 

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical discipline.
