Data and Valuation Analyst (Contract) at DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd

• As a Data and Valuation Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining Client Reference Data, Market Reference Data for financial instruments, and ensuring accurate valuation of these instruments. The investment classes involved include equity, fixed interest, derivatives, unit trusts, money market, and cash securities. These data sets will be maintained in the Investment Administration and Custody systems.
• Your role will focus on ensuring data quality and integrity across all data sets, enabling accurate regulatory reporting, portfolio compliance reporting, and client reporting. This includes troubleshooting valuation issues and resolving client data exceptions to ensure accurate daily reconciliations of portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for all market reference data, classification, and valuation-related activities.
• Maintain accurate Client Reference Data and regulatory reporting.
• Proactively monitor and assess processes to maintain data quality for market reference data and valuations.
• Manage and coordinate a team of data analysts, ensuring productivity and addressing performance issues.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on data management processes and validate data exceptions.
• Act as a subject matter expert on projects related to Market Reference Data and Valuations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data and pricing-related issues across multiple financial instruments.
• Train and mentor new data specialists and provide ongoing support.
• Manage risk and governance processes within the team, ensuring compliance with established controls.
• Coordinate project implementations, monitor progress, and report to the Data Management Head.
• Ensure all valuation and market reference data exceptions are resolved within SLA timelines.
• Conduct performance discussions with data analysts and manage their deliverables and development.
• Engage with stakeholders to address and resolve escalated queries.

Qualifications

• BCom in Economics, Financial Management, Investment Management, or Accounting
• CFA Level 1 (advantageous)
• Diploma in Financial Services Operations (advantageous)
• 3 years of experience in Investment Banking or Corporate Banking
• At least 2 years of prior investment operational experience
• Wealth or Investment Management operational experience
• Previous experience in data management (advantageous)
