Oracle Database Administrator

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator who will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Oracle database infrastructure required to support a significant EMEA client based in Randburg, Johannesburg. This position is responsible for all levels of database management, maintenance, and overall design and consulting. We are looking for someone with broad exposure to database management design theory and performance optimization techniques. The ideal candidate is a team player who is driven, willing to take initiative, is responsible and flexible to support client needs sometimes outside core business hours.
Key Responsibilities Include
Installing, configuring and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products
Evaluating Oracle features and Oracle related products
Establishing and maintaining sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
Implementing and maintaining database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
Taking ownership and standardization of the data model
Maintaining ER diagrams describing the application data model
Reviewing changes to the data model and migration scripts
Maintaining multiple Oracle 11g RAC databases
Managing QA and Development database environments
Performing general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams
Working with development teams in writing complex SQL
Creating and maintaining PL/SQL modules
Sizing, designing and installing Oracle databases including Oracle RAC
Interfacing with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
Patch Management and Version Control
Providing 24/7 support when required
Minimum Requirements Include
3-5 years' experience as an Oracle database administrator
3 years’ experience with Oracle 11g and Oracle OCP Certification
Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
Experience with SQL and PL/SQL development
Experience with Oracle DataPump, Oracle Linux or Red Hat Linux,Solaris or AIX
Experience with Windows Server 2008 R2
Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring
Excellent knowledge of ALL Oracle backup and recovery scenarios
Excellent knowledge of Oracle security management
Excellent knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources
Excellent communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators
Preferred Requirements Include
Experience with customer care and billing applications
Experience with Oracle 12c, C# .NET development skills
Experience with Configuration Management processes and tools
Experience with TFS source control
Exposure to Agile and SCRUM methodology
