RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for delivering an effective and comprehensive administrative service to the Head of the Department and staff members in the Departmentof Accounting, including:
Departmental Administrator assisting the;
Head of the Department of Accounting,
CA Programme Coordinator,
Lecturers in the Departement of Accounting, and
Lecturers across different departments who are involved in the mangement of the CA programme.
General office administration
Teaching and learning administration
Research and marketing administration
Financial, marketing and human resources administration
Management of the logistical arrangements for events and facilities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Relevant 3 year B degree with at least 2 years’ experience that includes office administration, secretarial and financial experience; or
Matric and an applicable 3 year secretarial and/or office administration qualification and 3 years’ experience that includes office administration, secretarial experience and financial administration; and
Experience in the use of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as the use of internet and e-mail.
COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Applicable professional communication and language skills, both written and verbal;
Ability to work under pressure without compromising detail and accuracy;
Strong display of customer service acumen;
The ability and sophistication needed to interact with internal and external stakeholders;
Ability to prioritise work independently and handle simultaneous assignments with success and accuracy;
Good administrative skills;
Ability to handle confidential information; and
Good Interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively function in a diverse group;
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
Advanced proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access;
Experience in administering undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes;
Knowledge of a blended learning environment including online support (ClickUP);
Basic knowledge of the PeopleSoft system;
Knowledge of webpage maintenance;
Experience in managing the logistical arrangements for events;
Knowledge and understanding of the higher education environment.
A driver’s license
PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED/UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
