    Depot Engineer - Pretoria

    Minimum Requirements

    • B SC or B Eng. Degree (in Mechanical or Electronics or Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering) with 3 years working experience in the rail industry OR    B Tech (in Mechanical or Electronics or Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering) with 5 working experiences in the rail industry.
    • Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer or Technologist with ECSA.
    • Life Cycle Cost/RAMS experience.
    • Prognostic Tools (Centralised Fleet Maintenance (CFM), Health Hub (HH) or equivalent tools for remote fleet monitoring program), System Application and Products (SAP).
    • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques (8D, Ishikawa, 5 whys, QRQC).
    • Abstract knowledge of engineering design processes, engineering drawings and interpretation software documentations.
    • Ability to demonstrate technical curiosity and able to discuss with the project team.
    • Trouble-shooting experience on technical issues.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Assuring the technical support to the projects.
    • Resolving technical problems by identifying root causes and develop robust solutions that are right first time.
    • Feeding the Central Engineering with pre-processed data for improvement of the train reliability and maintenance plan.
    • Escalating repetitive failures to central Engineering.
    • Managing the central continuous improvement flow of issues raised at the depots and liaise with the Central Engineering team for solutions.
    • Proposing innovative solutions and implements solutions in the projects.
    • Managing technical points raised by Customer and Gibela team in Web-Portal tool.
    • Allocating and reviewing weekly faults with the customer.
    • Flagging Potential Service Affecting Failures (SAF) to the business.
    • Updating SAP with all confirmed and agreed failure notifications.
    • Leading contractual technical investigations and recoveries for major EMD (Excluded Matter Damage).
    • Tracking all measurements analysis KPI’s in depot relating to Central Engineering.
    • Supporting field modifications for complex solutions.
    • Supporting Supplier Quality at the depot for complex investigations and non-conformance (NCR) claims.
    • Providing Technical support to  Reliability Growth through investigations and data analysis.
    • Providing Technical support to Warranty Field Engineer in order to ensure maximum train availability.

    Measurements (Key Performance Indicators)

    • Quality Cost Delivery (QCD) targets according to Project.
    • On-Time in Full (OTIF) targets.
    • Project reliability / availability / cost targets.
    • Maintenance plan and design improvement.
    • Feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
