Job Description

• Design @ Old Mutual is currently going through a scaling and growth phase in order to more substantially contribute to our Vision of being “Our Customers’ 1st Choice” by championing “Mutually Positive futures”.
• The Design team currently consists of Service Designers, UX Designers and UI Designers collaborating closely with UX Writers. New to this multidisciplinary team, are Qualitative and Quantitative researchers, Design System Lead as well as the Design Operations Manager. You'll be the first official Design Operations Manager within the Old Mutual Design team.

As a Design Operations Manager, your goal is to make the design team as effective as possible by fully enabling designers so that they focus on the work.
You will be the prime co-ordinator of work that gets done within Design and across certain functions, leading our efforts in:

• Design project/programme management
• Streamlining Research Ops and Design Governance
• Fostering relationships with CX & Data teams
• An “Instagram-able” Onboarding experience and sustained culture
• Facilitate Knowledge management and sharing

You will primarily collaborate with:

• Head of Design
• Design Chapter Leads, Designers & Researchers
• Product Owners
• Data and Analytics teams
• E-commerce and growth teams
• Establish and manage the design operations management methods and practices
• Programme management

Setup Research Ops:

• Recruitment
• Logistics
• Storing and disseminating results and Insights
• Tooling
• Manage consolidated Research/User Testing calendar 
• Setup and schedule Governance and quality management ceremonies

Culture:

• Organise team functions
• Knowledge sharing sessions 
• Hackathons
• Talks
• Facilitate Cross functional collaboration
• Vendor Management 
• Software & Hardware management
• Manage Onboarding of new team members
• Coordinate Internship program
• Play Scrum master/Delivery manager role for Design system and other Design-specific initiatives
• Setup dashboards to track UX metrics & Outcomes
• Manage Design calendar and events/ceremonies
• Knowledge management (Structure and storage of Design artefacts, methods and tools)
• Run Design Communications and engagement (E.g. Design Milestones, updates, governance, events )
• Plan and potentially facilitate design workshops and events.

Technical Expertise

• Project / Programme management
• Thorough knowledge of the Human-Centered Design processes and how it integrates in Digital Product development cycle
• Demand management
• Thorough knowledge of user-centered research and design processes
• Experience keeping distributed teams engaged
• Familiarity with Figma & Miro
• Use of Jira and Confluence to manage projects and documentation
• Reporting
• Tracking Finances/Spend
• Stakeholder management

Business Acumen

• Experience working in Digital
• Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.

Education
