Position Purpose

• To develop innovative and digitally driven ICT solutions to meet business requirements effectively, efficiently, on time and with the required quality assurance standards in accordance with specific business requirements. 
• Develop and implement the new approved digital solutions within the ICT environment. 

Position Outputs

• Implement Planned Activities  Working with other developers and Team Members to develop and implement new digital software solutions to meet business needs.  Develop, build and re-write new and existing digital solutions in accordance to the specifications and ICT roadmap.  Implementing emerging software development best practices, technologies and standards.  Participation in the Management of the digital application and software life cycle management.
• Application Development environment by:  Adopt and follow application development best practices.  Produce high standard and quality digital software solutions that aligns to both the business requirement specifications and the architectural standards.  Developing optimised digital and mobile solutions based on technical specifications.  Enhancing and improve existing solutions to become more digitally focused.  Ensuring quality assurance on work delivered.  Performing unit testing.  Participating in integration testing and User Acceptance Testing.  Enabling continuous Integration and Deployment of Digital solutions using DevOps Principles.
•  Adhering to Best Practice Standards.  Performing Production support of solutions (24/7).  Performing incident analysis and resolution.  Performing analysis on incidents to identify trends and improvements required.  Adhering to ICT system development processes (SDLC) Train, mentor, manage and provide guidance to Junior Staff.  Producing relevant reports aligned to Outputs.  Working according to Agile, DevOps and Other Supported Methodologies.  Working in Adhere to governance and best practice processes across ICT SDLC methodology.  Fixing, troubleshooting and improving existing software.  Integrating software components based on specifications.  Implementing automation on/in software components to improve business process efficiency.
• Participate in the Acquisition and Implementation of IT solutions by;  Assist project managers with software developmental reports relating to projects.  Architectures and required functionality.  Participating in workshops with business users and departmental team members to understand business needs and requirements.

Qualifications & Experience 

• National Diploma Or Equivalent/Related Qualification in Information Technology / Computer Science / Engineering. 
• Beneficial  Certification in TOGAF – Beneficial  Certification in COBIT – Beneficial  Certification in ISO 20000 – Beneficial  Certification in Agile – Beneficial  Certification in DevOps – Beneficial  Certification in Lean – Beneficial  Certification in ITIL Foundation/Certification in ITIL Service Management/ Certification in ITIL intermediate levels – Beneficial 
• 2 years in direct specialised Development field, System Integration or related. 
• General  Valid Driver’s License  
• Willing to Travel  
• Willing to work extended and after hours in support of project deadlines where needed.

Competencies

• Knowledge required:  Excellent understanding of development life cycle.  Knowledge of Agile SDLC methodologies (Scrum and KANBAN) is required.  Knowledge of DevOps would be beneficial  An excellent understanding of SDLC processes, tools and techniques.  Excellent communication skills.  Excellent problem-solving skills.  Excellent presentation skills.  Knowledge of railway environment.  Knowledge of Governance and Best Practice Processes relevant to environment (COBIT/ITIL/ISO 200000). Economics and Accounting:  Solid grasp of Agile and Lean practices.  Drive relentless improvement.  Collaboration with other teams, departments and operating divisions  Embedding of Quality Practices.  Embedding Automation capabilities. Database Knowledge  Oracle 11c, 19c Experience (P)  Oracle PL/SQL Experience (P)  SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases. (P) Development Language: Java more than supported languages:  JAVA 1.7+.  JEE (J2EE) server-side technologies (P).  RESTful Services (P).  Spring framework (P).  Experience with an application server (i.e. Tomcat, WebSphere) (P).  Javascript/Typescript (JQuery and Angular) (P).  Good understanding of OOP Programming (P).  Good understanding of browser compatibility (P).  Knowledge of Source Control (commits, Merges, Pull Requests) (P).  Micro services beneficial (P).

Development Language Maximo: 

• Working knowledge of Maximo Enterprise Asset Management (P). 
• Ability to analyse problem and provide clear recommendations. (P)

• Database Administration (Oracle) (P). 
• SQL optimization skills (P). 
• WebSphere administration for Maximo. (P)
