Digital & Innovation Head - SSA at Novartis

Job Description

To establish a strong Digital and Innovation function/mindset for Novartis Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). SSA currently comprises Innovative Medicines (Pharma + Oncology), Sandoz, Global Health & Corporate Responsibility and Business-enabling Functions.
This role is the primary Digital and Innovation business partner/advisor for SSA and is a key SSA performance driver. Providing strategic & operational Digital and Innovation support to local cluster countries.
Provides intelligence and insights based on landscape analysis of new and innovative opportunities to meet the SSA mandate of improved patient reach

• Owns the Novartis SSA digital strategy and drives engagement with key internal and external stakeholders on key digital and innovation topics e.g. digital solutions for anti-counterfeit initiatives, digital payments for patients, digital platforms for patient engagement etc.
• Identifies and advises the CCO and broader SSA LT on important gaps in our digital and innovation execution
• Actively engage in local external and internal Digital and Innovation networks to shape and influence the environment, and identify emerging trends/best practices.
• Full adherence to P3 principles and ethical behaviors across SSA
• Role model ethical behaviors, exercise good judgement and principles-based decision- making
• Create a trust-based environment that motivates associates to do their best
• Represent SSA in key Digital & Innovation meetings and events
• Represent Novartis in relevant external associations, conferences, meetings etc. to advocate and build Novartis Africa brand across SSA
• Represent SSA Digital and Innovation in all relevant internal global meetings, boards, events, etc.
• Leadership within SSA
• Influence beyond Digital Innovation, by sharing best practices, expertise and experience to shape SSA strategy, innovation and initiatives
   

Minimum Requirements

• Masters of PhD in digital, Innovation or related field. Broad spectrum of knowledge, interests and education Fluency in English essential. French and/or local Africa language desirable.
• Willingness to travel, as needed, to countries across sub-Saharan Africa essential.
• Minimum 7 years of related business experience and minimum 3 years of leadership experience
• Strategic planning expertise, strong analytical approach, strong influencing skills
• Excellent understanding of marketing & sales processes in the pharmaceutical business
