    Director: Development Grants Management office of the Vice-chancellor and Principal (Five year Contract)

    The University of Limpopo (UL) is looking for a strategic and energetic professional for the position of Director: Development Grants Management to lead this function with a focus on improving the progress and usage of all grants the University receives annually for the holistic development of UL in support of its goals and strategic objectives and be a value add to the Institution. 
    The incumbent will be responsible for amongst other things oversight of all the development grants at the University by monitoring and evaluating the progress and stages of completions in line with project plans and timelines to assist the UL in project implementation and delivery. The incumbent will report to the office of the Vice- Chancellor and Principal and must meet the requirements, competencies and key performance areas listed below: 
     
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Management, Accounting, Project Management or equivalent. 
    • Three years relevant working experience on a senior management within the higher education sector; 
    • Three years ‘experience on leading and managing national or institutional implementation programs with large budgets across multiple institutions or government, and its institution; 
    • Three years’ experience in undertaking and reporting on grants; 
    • Three years’ experience in oversight, monitoring and evaluation. 

    ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES: 

    • Relevant Postgraduate degree; 
    • Three years working experience on a senior management level within the public sector responsible for grants. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The incumbent will be required to: 

    • Develop and oversee the implementation of the development grants; 
    • Management, monitoring and evaluation of progress of projects funded through grants 
    • Provide strategic support to all Programme and project owners funded through grants 
    • Financial reporting and monitoring of the Development Grant Office 
    • Manage and oversee operations for Development Grant Office; 
    • Undertake and report on policy research to help the University to integrate use of all grants.
    • Work with large budgets across multiple units within the university; 
    • Provide direction and effective management of staff in the Development Grant Office; 
    • Provides Vice-Chancellor and Executive Management Committee members with key reports on the implementation of projects ad programs funded through grants; 
    • Advise the Vice-Chancellor on areas of development to align grant funding to the holistic development of the University.  

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES): 

    • Knowledge of higher education policies, especially domestic; 
    • Knowledge of public sector financial management for grants; 
    • Knowledge of public sector monitoring and evaluation for grants; 
    • University sector knowledge; 
    • Knowledge of public sector management as a whole; 
    • Senior leadership in higher education or public sectors; 
    • Strategic, people finance, and resource management; 
    • Project/Programme management; 
    • Monitoring and evaluation; 
    • Written and verbal communication skills; 
    • Good interpersonal communicator; 
    • Client oriented;

    • Ability to work under pressure
