    Director: Information Systems Development ICT Services

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • The main purpose of this job is directing the design, development and deployment of digital solutions to enable the core and other support functions of the University with a strong focus on Business Process Improvement (BPI) and advancing smart campuses.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Provide technical leadership in the deployment of information systems and digital solutions to streamline major university processes such as academic administration, Human Resource Management, Financial management, Procurement etc
    • To lead leveraging of data to provide a Business Intelligence (BI) capability for the university
    • Research, analyse, design, implement and manage information systems initiatives
    • Manage the university’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Learning Management Systems;
    • Manage a team of Business Analysts, systems analysts, Application/software developers, educational technologists, Audio Visual, multimedia and other specialists
    • To manage the operational and capital budget for the directorate
    • Manage of third parties with respect to resources and ICT projects;
    • Directing System integration and support for learning and teaching/classroom technologies are additional requirements.
    • Project Management for Information Systems design and innovation

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • Leadership and strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
    • Proven ability to manage and motivate directorate staff comprising Application developers, business analysts, trainers, project teams, DBAs, System Engineers and technicians. 
    • Demonstrable grasp of project management in systems development and deployment of ICT solutions.
    • Proven strong analytical, solution-design and problem solving skills.
    • Experience in writing and evaluating business proposals and reports.
    • Proven experience in implementation and support of ERP solutions;
    • Experience in system integration.
    • Extensive experience in design and deployment of Business Intelligence (BI) and data analytics capability;
    • Proven ability to research emerging information system and information security/cybersecurity trends;
    • Possess strong business, system analysis and design skills using proven methodologies.
    • Knowledge and experience in the application of IT Architecture Frameworks (preferably TOGAF) •
    • Good understanding of IT governance and adoption of best practice frameworks including CoBIT, ITIL, Val IT.

     
    REQUIREMENTS
     

    • M+4 Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science. • At least 6 years’ experience during which core competencies were gained and/or improved. 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ managerial experience in Middle Management
