Draughts person: Mechanical - JHB at GIBB Engineering and Architecture

Core purpose:

The core purpose of the job focuses on the responsibility of a Mechanical draughts person to create technical engineering drawings and plans that are used for the construction or manufacturing of products, building service equipment or structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed technical engineering drawings, such as plans, elevations, and sections, using computer-aided design (CAD) software specific to mechanical engineering.
• Interpret engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to create accurate drawings.
• Review and revise drawings and plans based on feedback from project teams, engineers, or architects.
• Collaborate with project teams, engineers, or architects to ensure that technical drawings meet project requirements and specifications.
• Create and maintain drawing libraries and databases, ensuring that all drawings are properly filed and organized.
• Conduct quality control checks on drawings and plans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare bill of quantities and material lists for construction or manufacturing projects.
• Participate in design review meetings and providing technical support and guidance to project teams.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant diploma or certificate in mechanical drafting.
• At least 8 years’ mechanical drafting experience
• Experience with mechanical drafting standards, as well as familiarity with general engineering and architectural drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools including ACAD, Civil 3D and/or Revit is required.
