    Draughtsman - Midrand

    Job Description

    • Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Draughtsman to join their team in Midrand. 
    • To be responsible for creating and reviewing technical store drawings based on given specifications and calculations. 
    • Utilise both manual drawing skills as wells as a computer-based application, such as automated computer-assisted drafting.

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential:

    • Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate
    • Relevant Architectural Technology Qualification (shop design and/ or interior Design
    • 2 – 5 years’ experience as a Draughtsman

    Advantageous

    • Experience in AutoCAD, ArchiCAD

    Job Description:

    Project Design Management:

    • Draft plans, detailed drawings and other specifications related to relevant projects.
    • Draft new and existing layout e.g. drafting and updating store floor plans with the relevant lists of equipment provided.
    • Produce detailed drawings that include building dimensions, required materials and construction procedures.
    • Produce, organise and distribute all building plans including development permits, building permits issued for construction and site instructions when required.
    • Ensure that work is completed in accordance with project specifications.
    • Establish and maintain a Variations Register, for authorised drawing revisions and the cost changes to the contract, signed by the Project Manager. 

    Project Management:

    • Compile and analyse shop drawings and other documentation to prepare tie scale, cost implications, material usage and labour estimates.
    • Assists in the interpretation of drawings and specifications to resolve differences on technical matters.
    • Review drawings, specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products.
    • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope.
    • Compile group specifications and reference drawings under the supervision of the Project Manager. 

    Compliance & Risk Prevention:

    • Ensure designs comply with the Good Pharmacy Practice and are functional and comply with the relevant legislation.
    • Conduct detailed and accurate site checks on new stores including ways to improve workspace workflow, procedures and infrastructures.
    • Maintain current knowledge of National legislature on compliance regulations. 

    Administration & Reporting:

    • Ensure office related administration is kept in order, including but not limited to sourcing of quotations and liaising with stores mostly during revamp etc.
    • Record project issues and escalate where necessary.
    • Trace maintenance records, registers, and other routine job checking.
    • Ensure accurate schedule of site visits and ordering supplies.
    • Report on variation of drawings/designs to Management.
    • Report on the progression of drawing completions and ensure the timely completion of all allocated projects.

    Competencies: 

    Essential: 

    • Sound knowledge of SANS 0400 Building regulations, sound knowledge of JBCC forms of contract. Maintain current knowledge of National legislature on compliance regulations
    • Develops fresh ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges.
    • Ability to have a clear vision about what needs to be achieved. Understanding and analysing current position and resources required to execute.
    • Interprets and use text or visual information such as symbols, numbers, letters, and images in various formats. Grasps the meaning of information written in English. Conveys ideas and facts in writing using language the reader will best understand. Document use.
    • Builds constructive working relationships characterised by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
    • Demonstrates an underlying drive to ensure that quality is not compromised. It includes the identification and maintenance of standards to meet the needs of the company, together with a desire for accuracy and order.
    • Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight.

    Special conditions of employment:

    • South African
    • MIE, clear criminal and credit
