    Drilling Supervisor

    PURPOSE

    • The purpose of this role is to supervise daily drilling, production related testing and associated on-site engineering operations of the exploration drilling campaign and report thereon. This entails ensuring that all exploration wells are drilled to the required technical specification and regulatory requirements, completed on time and within budget and successfully converted for ongoing and future production purposes, held in suspension and/or abandoned as per the approved Tetra4 procedures.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;

    Test and measurement

    • Assist and improve the current flow and flare testing, in accordance with regulatory requirements including but not limited to:

    Conducting flow test and daily inspections thereof

    • Verify pressure tests of casing.

    On-site exploration drilling supervision

    Provide constant on-site supervision of exploration drilling activities, including but not limited to:

    • Ensure all well site activities are safely planned and efficiently executed.
    • Supervision of all facets of drilling planning and operations.
    • Developing and issuing verbal and written instructions to supervisors.
    • Ensuring full adherence to the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
    • Supporting the contractor’s HSE advisor.
    • Identification of any risks or challenges to drilling activity especially those risks associated with trajectory changes and additional cost/time implications.
    • Monitor cementation and ensure volumes as in cementation calculations are accurate.
    • Audit against the approved Basis of Design and approve and record any deviations to the basis of Designs as may occur.
    • Provide general onsite guidance and assist contractors with problem solving; and
    • Complete weekly reports of sites supervised recording compliance/deviation to design, activity times spent on site, risks identified, progress made, updated schedules for
    • completion and milestones, site HSE compliance, trajectory tracking and forecast for surveys and ROP’s per lithological sequence.

    Post-drilling monitoring

    • Undertake regular monitoring of successfully completed and/or abandoned exploration
    • wells, including but not limited to:
    • Implement exploration well maintenance and repair plan including checking for fugitive
    • leaks, fluid levels, corrosion, damaged casing etc;
    • Identify any post drilling risks to wells and update risk assessment monthly.
    • Implement Weekly soap tests at all non-production wells to ensure minimum fugitive
    • leaks.

    Data collection
    provide data by:

    • Manage the coordination of collecting on site data including but not limited to field
    • testing, sampling and collection/verification of historic data.

    Continuous improvement

    • Participate in all drilling related safety investigations, develop corrective actions.
    • Look for opportunities to optimize drilling times, maintenance of trajectories and
    • reductions in standing and costs.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in a relevant field, such as petroleum engineering or geology
    • 5 years exploration experience within the oil and gas Industry
    • 5 years Managerial experience
    • Proven leadership and team-building skills
    • Working knowledge of drilling operations and equipment
    • Strong safety record
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
