RPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable civil engineering contractor in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Earthworks Foreman to oversee earthworks and related civil construction activities on road and infrastructure projects for a period of 24 months.
The successful candidate will have strong practical experience in earthworks, bulk earthworks and road construction, with the ability to lead site teams, coordinate plant and resources, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily earthworks and civil construction activities
Ensure construction is carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality standards and project requirements
Coordinate and allocate labour, plant and equipment effectively
Monitor earthworks production, levels, compaction and material placement
Oversee cut and fill operations, layerworks and compaction activities
Coordinate with the Site Agent, engineers and other project teams
Monitor daily progress and assist in achieving production targets
Ensure proper use and coordination of construction plant and equipment
Maintain a safe, productive and well-organised work environment
Conduct site inspections and address quality or construction-related issues
Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental requirements
Requirements:
10+ years’ experience in earthworks and road construction
Matric Certificate or higher qualification
Proven experience supervising earthworks on road projects
Strong knowledge of bulk earthworks, cut and fill, layerworks and compaction
Working knowledge of drainage and related civil works
Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
Experience supervising plant operators, labour teams and subcontractors
Knowledge of health and safety, quality control and construction procedures
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
