Economics Correspondent, Southern Africa - Reuters at Thomson Reuters

As an Economics Correspondent at Reuters, you will:

• Bring ideas, energy and enthusiasm
• Cultivate high-level sources among the region’s central banks and finance ministries, multinational lenders such as the IMF and World Bank, and among investors and traders to break exclusive news, provide insightful analysis and produce revelatory features
• Be fast and ensure Reuters clients get the news first
• Work closely with colleagues in the region and globally to connect the dots between countries and highlight trends
• Take the lead on complex multimedia stories with multiple contributors

To be our Economics Correspondent, you will likely:

• Be a self-starter and excellent team player
• Have deep knowledge of the region’s macroeconomics, currency and bond markets, and central banks
• Have a proven ability to break news and a knack for explaining its significance to a global audience
• Be as comfortable covering breaking news at speed, as delivering deeply reported, high-impact, features
• Have at least three years of experience working as a journalist, including in a real-time news environment
• Be fluent in English with strong writing skills; Portuguese would be a plus
• Have experience using data and analytical tools to build graphics and highlight trends
