    EDI Assistant

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The ED&I and Employer Brand Assistant plays a dual role driving Employer Branding for South Africa through our Early Careers Programme and LevelUp Youth Employability initiatives. Additionally, the role partners closely with the ED&I function to design, implement and monitor Equity, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, drive Employment Equity targets, support BBBEE Skills Development reporting and Learning Compliance requirements, whilst supporting the broader Unilever inclusion agenda. 

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    Employer Branding Leadership – SA Early Careers

    • This scope focuses on building Unilever’s external brand, attracting early careers talent and driving youth impact.
    • Support the full Employer Branding strategy for Unilever South Africa’s Early Careers portfolio (YES Programme, Internships, Unilever Future Leaders Programme, Student Vacation Work Programme).
    • Position Unilever as a preferred employer of choice through campaigns, storytelling, and on-campus/on-platform engagement activities.
    • Manage our digital employer brand across platforms (LinkedIn, local careers channels, job boards).
    • Lead internal and external brand audits to ensure message consistency and competitiveness.
    • Drive the Youth Employability agenda through the LevelUp Programme, including programme design, partnerships, reporting, and impact measurement.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with universities, NGOs, youth hubs, TVET colleges and employability partners.
    • Coordinate national youth-facing activations, career fairs, and employability workshops.

    Employee Advocacy & Brand Affinity

    • Drive employee advocacy to build brand affinity and support talent attraction.
    • Coach employees on storytelling and maintain the advocacy content pipeline.
    • Monitor advocacy analytics and link outcomes to recruitment KPIs.

    ED&I Agenda Support

    • This scope focuses on strengthening Unilever’s inclusion agenda and supporting organisational culture.
    • Assist with the design, rollout and communication of ED&I initiatives across the business.
    • Support employee listening, inclusion activation campaigns, and culture building programmes.
    • Partner with Business Partners and Business units to integrate ED&I principles into people moments.

    Regulatory & Organisational Reporting

    • Support achievement of Employment Equity (EE) targets through coordination of EE activities and monitoring.
    • Support BBBEE Skills Development reporting, ensuring compliance and accuracy of data.
    • Manage learning compliance reporting and follow-up (including L&D audit readiness).
    • Consolidate insights to guide development planning, youth talent allocation, and workforce planning.
    • Maintain accurate data on learning attendance, certifications and programme effectiveness.

    Culture & Change Support

    • Support execution of change and culture strategies connected to ED&I.
    • Coordinate communication, engagement materials and activation sessions for behaviour - shaping initiatives.

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

    Experiences & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related fields.
    • 1–3 years' experience in Employer Branding and ED&I
    • Experience with digital platforms, youth engagement, or social media management is beneficial.
    • Experience with EE/BBBEE reporting is an advantage.
    • Passion for youth development, inclusion and culture change.
    • Strong organization skills as well as attention to detail and diligence
    • Ability to work independently and operate within a fast-paced environment
