    EHS Specialist

    What You Will Do

    • Reporting to the UK/I Regional EHS Manager providing advice and help in Environmental Health and Safety matters to Operational Managers and other stakeholders, to follow relevant legislation. You will effectively support the implementation of the company EHS management system and support all lines of business, BT&S UK/I including mobile engineering services and construction projects in a regional capacity.
    • Field based covering London Centre, East, South, West with occasional visits to East Anglia and JCI hub offices such as Sunbury -on-Thames, Basildon and Cambridge. For this role JCI offer remote home to hybrid working.

    How You Will Do It

    • Act as a Business Partner to operational management and develop formal, annual plans to drive improvement
    • Meet regularly and present EHS to business unit leaders
    • Provide support for effectively assessing and controlling risk, Identify gaps and provide solutions to ensure compliance is achieved.
    • Build, maintain and improve effective working relationships with Clients, Managers, Supervisors and Employee representatives
    • Promote the continuous development of a positive EHS culture
    • Monitor and measure compliance with legal standards and establish effective follow-up procedures to ensure any weaknesses are quickly and reliably addressed
    • Give accurate drafting and effective communication of EHS policies
    • Evaluate, develop, promote and support the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive and effective EHS management system by contributing to the development of the system
    • Identify EHS training and development needs, and act on them
    • Assist in the solving of audit items contained in both internal, external and self audit reports to ensure effective action is taken to solve these issues and concerns
    • Issue reports and work with local manages with regard to their EHS Data, identify trends and foster EHS Initiatives.
    • Conduct site visits and assist with general support and problem solving.
    • Carry out detailed investigations of more serious incidents in the workplace and draft appropriate reports including determining the root cause or causes of the incident
    • Liaise with enforcing authorities when issues are raised and deal with any follow-up investigation or enforcement action to reduce or mitigate risk to the Company
    • Participate in Compliance forums to keep up to date with best practices and network with other professional Specialists to keep abreast of the latest innovations and developments in order to drive forward continuous improvement within the Company
    • Assess all contractors’ processes and procedures to verify they meet the Company’s expected EHS standards and that their performance is satisfactory measured against agreed targets.

    Essential

    • GRADIOSH Minimum (CMIOSH preferred) or NVQ Level 5 or NEBOSH Diploma

    • Degree in EHS management
    • EHS experience in a large, multi-site organization, in implementing EHS Management Systems and supporting procedures
    • Drive, enthusiasm, and self-motivation. Ability to prioritize and to work with fixed timescales
    • Fluent in English
    • Full driving license required
