Job Specific Experience

• Minimum of 5 years Trade experience in heavy industry installations Rules (Wireman`s License)
• General maintenance and operation of Medium and High Voltage equipment (transformers, protection systems, steam and gas turbine generators, switchgear )

Qualifications & Expertise

• Minimum Matric
• N3 plus Trade Tested Electrician
• Fully trained or in possession of ORHVS (Operating Regulations of High voltage Switching certificate)

Competencies

• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and without supervision – accurately and timeously
• Ensure efficient inspection and maintenance of Medium and High Voltage equipment

Functional Outputs

• Review & update HT related SWPs and Risk assessments
• Manage SCADA system and related HT automation
• Manage (i.e. troubleshoot, test, modify & commission) all work related to 11kV & 132kV protection relays including power generator protection
• Develop, review & perform 11kV and 132kV switching procedures
• Conduct necessary isolations, energizing and reset of HV equipment
• Initiate, investigate HT RCFAs and recommend corrective action
• Install, replace & maintain equipment. Troubleshoot, calibrate, Test & commission equipment
• Supervise Projects and Contractor Activities on site during normal operations and shuts

General

• Understanding of mill low voltage switching procedures (basic knowledge)
• Detailed understanding of Mondi Power system and protection philosophy including Eskom point of common coupling (PCC) system at LEO substation
• Computer literacy & SAP knowledge
• Wireman`s Licence
• SAP
