Job Specific Experience

• Minimum of 5 years Trade experience in heavy industry installations Rules (Wireman`s License)
• General maintenance and operation of Medium and High Voltage equipment (transformers, protection systems, steam and gas turbine generators, switchgear )

Qualifications & Expertise

• Minimum Matric
• N3 plus Trade Tested Electrician
• Fully trained or in possession of ORHVS (Operating Regulations of High voltage Switching certificate)

Competencies

• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and without supervision – accurately and timeously
• Ensure efficient inspection and maintenance of Medium and High Voltage equipment

Functional Outputs

• Review & update HT related SWPs and Risk assessments
• Manage SCADA system and related HT automation
• Manage (i.e. troubleshoot, test, modify & commission) all work related to 11kV & 132kV protection relays including power generator protection
• Develop, review & perform 11kV and 132kV switching procedures
• Conduct necessary isolations, energizing and reset of HV equipment
• Initiate, investigate HT RCFAs and recommend corrective action
• Install, replace & maintain equipment. Troubleshoot, calibrate, Test & commission equipment
• Supervise Projects and Contractor Activities on site during normal operations and shuts

General

• Understanding of mill low voltage switching procedures (basic knowledge)
• Detailed understanding of Mondi Power system and protection philosophy including Eskom point of common coupling (PCC) system at LEO substation
• Computer literacy & SAP knowledge
• Wireman`s Licence

Job Purpose

• This position will be responsible for planning, reporting and value added analysis of operational costs at the Richards Bay mill as well as continuous improvements in systems and processes to improve effectiveness and efficiencies.

Education

• CIMA
• Alternatively, B Com or relevant commercial degree

Job Experience

• More than 5 years costing experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.

Licences/Mandatory Training

• Proficiency in MS Office suites will be essential, strong Excel and PPT skills
• Strong SAP systems knowledge (Costing/ Finance)

Variable Costs

RESPONSIBILITIES / KPAS:

• Review/Update SAP BoM’s, routings and prices
• Monitor/analyse machine and material efficiencies
• Monitor/analyse volume, usage and price variances
• Ongoing cost control
• Business partner to the Operation Managers. Attendance of Operations meetings
• Stock monitoring, reporting and control. Ensure weekly/monthly stock counts are completed and processed
• Operational planning (Budgets, estimates, weekly forecasts and actual reporting)
• Continuous improvement of systems and processes

Reporting

• Responsible for gathering and compiling financial information and supporting the Operation Managers
• Weekly, month end and year end reporting
• Profit Improvement Initiatives (PII) validation and reporting
• Insurance claim calculations
• Ad hoc reports, queries, scenario analysis and projects

• 4 years’ experience as a Mechanical or Electrical in heavy industry environment
• 2 years applicable reliability engineering or asset management will be advantageous
• Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry will be beneficial

Qualifications & Expertise

• BSc Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree / B-Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Government Certificate of Competency is advantageous
• Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA will be preferable
