Electronic Technician - Boksburg at Booyco Electronics

Purpose:

The Electronic Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems and equipment used in various industrial applications. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and providing high-quality service to customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in electronics and acts as a link between production technicians and Engineering. To provide daily technical support to production and repairs.

Education, experience, and competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 years' experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001; FMEA Documentation; and document editing
• Knowledge in programming languages and PCB designs (multiple layers)
• Proficient in the use of electronic testing and diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

• Install, maintain, and repair electronic systems and equipment, including safety devices, communication systems, and control panels.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of electronic equipment.
• Follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer’s specifications to ensure accurate installation and repairs.

Troubleshooting and Repair:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electronic systems and components.
• Perform repairs and replacements of defective parts, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
• Test repaired systems to confirm functionality and adherence to specifications.

Compliance and Safety:

• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Ensure all electronic installations comply with electrical codes and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including safety checks and compliance reports.

Technical Support:

• Provide technical support and assistance to customers and colleagues.
• Offer training and guidance on the proper use and maintenance of electronic systems.
• Stay updated on new technologies and advancements in electronic systems and equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Analyse and resolve non-conformances in engineering.
• Assist with initial builds as required.
• Develop and update technical scope of work documents as development projects progress.
• Conduct verification testing in line with the scope of work during the development process.
• Create technical documentation according to design control forms.
• Verify the technical validity of existing product and service-related documents.
• Provide training to repair, production, and quality teams on new products.
• Analyse and implement improvements on current product and service-related processes.
• Annually update control documents.
