Engineer - Geotechnical at AECOM

Job Summary

Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

Develops designs, including concepts, coordination, design documentation and contract administration on projects, while working as part of the project team.

General:

• Develops designs, including concepts, coordination, design documentation and contract administration on projects, while working as part of the project team.

• Contributes to the development of technical proposals.

• Develops design by gathering, correlating and analyzing engineering data using computer software and/or established procedures and standards. When possible, collects and analyses information from discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.

• Fully develops the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure production of high-quality outputs in accordance with project timelines.

• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, discipline BIM models, drawings, reports and tender documents.

• Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

• Provides guidance to graduate level engineers and CAD/BIM technicians

• Coordinates with other discipline engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process, including the performance of BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection)

• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

• Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities ensuring quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions.

• Use the Common Data Environment (CDE) for information exchange.

• Coordinates with authorities for scheme approvals.

• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection).

Specific:

• Experience undertaking work to AAHSTO, Eurocodes and British Standards.

• Experience with a wide range of Geotechnical Investigation techniques and ensuring they are undertaken to the highest standard.

• Experience with the design of various geotechnical structures like shallow foundations, deep foundations, retaining walls, excavations, dewatering, and ground improvement.

• Experience with geotechnical design software like Slope/W, SEEP/W, Plaxis 2D, Repute and Group. Experience with Plaxis 3D or similar would be an advantage.

• Experience with various types of geotechnical construction activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Generally have between 2-8 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science or Engineering from an accredited University.
