Education/ Tertiary Qualifications

• BSc Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• Post Graduate qualification | Industrial Engineering will be advantageous

Licences/ Certifications

• Code 08 Driver’s Licence

Experience

• 5 – 10 years’ experience in Process Engineering in a specialist, supervisor or management role within the Pulp and Paper Industry.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory | people management position.

Primary Purpose of Role

• The Production Engineer is responsible to ensure the quality and efficiency of the production process, and for supporting the Production Manager in managing the operational team.

Key Performance Areas

• Materials and stock management
• Shut planning and coordination
• Process safety risk management and quality control
• RCFA and deviation analysis and management
• Assist Production Manager with people development
• Contractor management
• Ensure continuous improvement and process optimisation
• Develop SOPs, BOPs, and WOP (responsibility)
• Manage budget and cost deviations (own area)
• Safety, health and environmental risk management
• Perform standby duties as required.
• Coordinate gatekeeping meetings (G1, 2 and 3)

Competence and Achievements

• Understanding of Engineering principles, standards and practices; maintenance philosophies (where applicable); legal compliance and manufacturing criteria
• Sound understanding of contractor management, engineering procedures and standards, and legal compliance
