Role Overview

• The Enterprise Architect (Cloud) is responsible for designing and implementing a cloud-based architecture that aligns with the insurance company’s business objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with expertise in cloud technologies, insurance business processes, and regulatory compliance. The Enterprise Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy and Architecture Development

• Define and develop the organization’s cloud strategy in alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Design cloud-based solutions for core insurance functions, including underwriting, claims processing, and customer engagement.
• Ensure the architecture is scalable, cost-effective, and adaptable to future needs.

Solution Design and Implementation

• Lead the migration of legacy systems to cloud platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Architect hybrid cloud environments to integrate on-premise and cloud systems effectively.
• Develop reference architectures, blueprints, and guidelines for cloud adoption.

Data and Analytics

• Design cloud data architectures to support advanced analytics, predictive modelling, and AI/ML applications for risk assessment and customer insights.
• Ensure robust data governance, security, and compliance with industry regulations like GDPR or HIPAA.

Technology Evaluation and Innovation

• Evaluate and recommend cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to improve business capabilities.
• Explore emerging technologies such as serverless computing, Kubernetes, and AI/ML for potential use cases in the insurance sector.

Governance and Compliance

• Establish and enforce cloud architecture standards, policies, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements specific to the insurance industry.
• Implement robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard sensitive customer data.

Collaboration and Leadership

• Work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of cloud initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance to development teams on cloud-native application design and deployment.
• Act as a thought leader, promoting cloud-first and innovative approaches across the organization

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 4 years in cloud architecture roles.
• Proven experience in the insurance sector, understanding of core processes like claims, underwriting, and policy administration.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, including microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless architecture.
• Knowledge of data architecture and integration patterns in a cloud environment.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and cloud compliance (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
