    Environmental Officer: Production Grade A (Biodiversity) – 5 posts

    Environmental officer: Production grade A (Biodiversity) – 5 posts

    • Salary range: R343 842 – R380 145 per annum (OSD)
    • Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).
    • Centres and employment equity targets:
    • O.R. Tambo Region: Ref. DEDEAT/2025/10/12
    • Target: African Female / Persons with Disabilities (PwD)
    • Sarah Baartman Region (x2): Ref. DEDEAT/2025/10/13
    • Target: African Male, Coloured Male / PwD
    • Chris Hani Region (x2): Ref. DEDEAT/2025/10/14
    • Target: White Female / PwD

    Requirements:

    • National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Management or Natural Sciences.
    • No experience required as per OSD provisions; however, 1–2 years of relevant experience will be an added advantage.
    • Extensive knowledge and understanding of policies and regulations related to Environmental Management.
    • Knowledge and experience in community-based natural resource and biological diversity management.
    • A valid driver’s licence is required.

    Knowledge, skills, and attributes:

    • Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software.
    • Good writing and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of environmental legislation, including:
    • National Environmental Management Act (NEMA)
    • National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act (NEMPA)
    • National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA)

    Duties:

    • Provide technical assistance in the development and implementation of the district’s biodiversity management plan, aligned with provincial policy, norms, and standards.
    • Evaluate biodiversity authorisation applications and conduct compliance adjudication processes.
    • Offer technical and procedural advisory services on biodiversity management within the area of operation.
    • Perform and manage administrative and related functions as required.
