Environmental Superintendent at Anglo American

Job Description:
We are currently seeking to employ an Environmental Superintendent to join our Coal South Africa family at Goedehoop Colliery

This is a key role within the Safety and Sustainable Development Department where you will be responsible for: 

• Perform due diligence audits so that operations are environmental legally compliance and changes to law are implemented during operational, decommissioning and closure phases as well as implement the ISO 14001:EMS standards and the Anglo Coal South Africa Environmental Policy and Procedures
• Provide support in the development of the Anglo Coal South Africa Environmental Management Plan through the environmental team ensure the environmental data collection and collation from Operation as well as co-ordinate environmental management processes at all the operating site
• Co-ordinate environmental assessments, reports and advise operations on applications through guiding and advising Operations on environmental risk identification and management
• Investigate environmental incidents and risks as well as develop the scope of work and generate EMPR, EIA and WULA documentation according to environmental legal compliance
• Stakeholder management and knowledge sharing through initiating and rolling out of environmental awareness campaigns as well as best practices, technologies and equipment identified and communicated

This role is in the Safety and Sustainable Development Department at a Band 6 level reporting toTechnical Services Manager and has 1 direct report

Qualifications:
You will need the following:

• Degree in Environmental Management or a related field (NQF level 8)
• Management Development Programme will be advantageous
• Valid Drivers Licence
• You will need experience in the following 

Knowledge of the relevant South African Environmental legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act

• Good track record of coaching staff towards achieving organisational objectives
• An in depth knowledge of Environmental Management standards and ISO 14001
• Sound knowledge of the mining industry
• Understanding of latest international trends and practices within the environmental industry
• Core environmental competency in water, land, rehabilitation, air or environmental management systems
