    ER Specialist - Head Office

    Description

    • We are looking for an innovative, passionate, and experienced ER Specialist to join our Human Resources team at Cape Union Mart.
    • This purpose of the role is to effectively promote the interest of the Company as well as its employees, by assisting with the implementation of employee relations policies, rules and procedures and by providing high quality employee relations advice and support to the Company, in order to mitigate any potential risks originating from the employer and employee relationship.  Our successful candidate will have the relevant experience, customer centricity and drive to work in our fast-paced retail environment.
    • This position is based at our Head Office in Cape Town.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    •  Act in an advisory capacity to leaders, employees and HR Business Partners, ensuring that all ER related matters (internal disputes, labour, discipline and industrial action) are dealt with timeously and according to the ER processes.
    •  Keep abreast of legislative amendments (RSA, Botswana and Namibia) thereby drafting/amending Company policy, procedures and contracts accordingly.
    •  Ensure compliance of the applicable Acts to minimize risk to the Company.
    •  Represent the Company at the CCMA including the applicable preparation and case administration processes.
    •  Assist to develop and provide training to leaders, HR team members and the workforce regarding IR topics, policies and processes and in accordance with applicable legislation.
    •  Partner with the Information team to ensure that ER data is captured, maintained, analysed and reported on monthly.
    •  Research and evaluate different risk factors / trends and offer proactive advice on possible labor issues, whilst streamlining conflict and labor law dispute resolution.
    •  Ensure all ER documents meet Company and Legislative standards.
    •  Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including labour 
    •  May be required to conduct end to end disciplinary processes 
    •  May be required to perform HRBP duties in line with the HR Operations People Plan.
    •  Perform ad hoc duties as and when required.

    Requirements
    Qualifications and Experience Required

    •  A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management / Industrial Psychology or similar is essential.
    •  Minimum of 4 years proven experience in a similar IR / HR role is required.
    •  Preference will be given to candidates with HR experience within a Retail environment.
    •  Proven track record of representation at the CCMA is critical.
    •  Experience working with union and wage negotiations is important.
    •  Experience is facilitating ER training sessions is advantageous.
    •  A valid driver’s license (your own car) is required.
    •  Practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook is essential.
    •  Preference will be given to candidates with an intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
    •  Working experience with various HR Information Systems is preferred (including payroll systems, recruitment platforms, etc.)
    •  Preference will be given to candidates with PaySpace experience.
