Exploration Geologist, D1, HO011/25GS at Seriti

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Promote safety through participating in high level SHE reviews, recommending appropriate actions where necessary, keeping abreast of SHE industry best practices and ensuring communication to all stakeholders
• Manage and perform geological data acquisition to ensure data integrity and enable geological modelling of the deposit
• Planning and managing of all field work required to produce a high standard of geological input
• Deliver and manage an annual budget that represents best estimate of costs and supports the attainment of the organization and business unit’s financial objectives
• Coordinate exploration drilling and associated activities
• Contractor management and drill rig coordination/allocations
• Understand that this role will require extensive time in the field, as well as possible travelling to remote areas. Depending on circumstances one might need to stay over away from home as and when required.

Requirements:

• B Sc Hons / B Tech / Advanced Diploma in Geology
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a geological role within the mining industry
• (Coal) exploration experience for eventual opencast and/or underground mining
• Understanding of the risk assessment process
• High regards to safety, regulations and standards
• Report writing skills
• Analytical skills
• Computer literacy (MS Office, i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook, as well as basic proficiency in CAD-based software like MicroStation)
• Valid driver’s license
• In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

• Professional registration as a Natural Scientist with SACNASP and/or GSSA membership
• Seriti Safety Course: S3
• Production experience in opencast and/or underground mining
• Experience with geological database and Minex and Geobank modelling software
• Knowledge of mine planning and metallurgy
• Knowledge of relevant mining legislation including Mine Health & Safety Act, Minerals & Petroleum Resources Development Act
