Export Logistics Manager at Holler Trade

Job Description

The Export Logistics Manager is responsible for the export of goods and services from one country to another. You may have to work long hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet deadlines and to coordinate the activities of your staff and to ensure all carriers cross the border without any delays. You must be able to work well under pressure and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You must also be able to think creatively to solve problems in a cost-effective way.  Please note this is not a warehouse or fleet management role.

• Some day-to-day duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Supervise and collate the work of three logistics clerks.
• Negotiate contracts with new vendors and clients as well as terminating contracts with existing clients or vendors when necessary.
• Coordinating freight shipments to ensure that they arrive on time and without damage.
• Establishing and managing relationships with freight carriers and other service providers to ensure smooth operations.
• Cooperating with other departments within the company to ensure that all international business operations run smoothly.
• Assist the team with daily tracking reports from transporters to clients.
• Assist with obtaining quotations and the booking and placements of orders for airfreight, sea freight, couriers and third-party shipping agents.
• General administration assistance such as scanning, copying and finalization of export documents.
• Ensure the sorting, scanning and electronic filing of POD’s are done for each delivery.
• Assist with the completion of export documents and SADC entries.
• Creating of manifests with detailed off-loading instructions – collate information from different buyers and directors and compile instructions for truck drivers.
• Container purchase and rental bookings/orders.
• Truck bookings and payments.
• Ensure that commercial invoices and packing slips are issued to the warehouse timeously.
• Ensure that all work done is according to process and all documentation is filed as per process on the company’s shared cloud drive.
• Monitor constantly all work done by the team and assist where deemed necessary.
• Assist with clearing agents and obtaining permits and licences for export products where required.
• Assist with commodity code checking.
• Assist with the booking of BV inspections and goods remote inspections.
• Truck / load planning with the directors.
• Audit and refine procedure processes.
• Monitor export of goods, adhering to the compliance standards.
• Train new export buyers on HS Codes / Commodity codes.

Qualifications

• Matric with maths
• Logistics degree
• Fully versed with Easyclear cloud version, export documentation, SADC, BV inspections, duty charges, surcharges, etc for various African countries as well as permit and license requirements
• At least 10+ years’ experience within logistics
• English as first language
• Advanced Excel knowledge
• Excellent computer skills
• Must live within the Centurion / Midrand areas
• Must have a valid drivers’ license and own reliable vehicle
• Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
