Extrusion Operator (Centurion) at Montego Pet Nutrition

• At Montego, our Extrusion Operator keeps the heart of the production process running efficiently. From batching and start-up to extrusion, drying and coating, your decisions help ensure that every product consistently meets the required quality specifications.

What will you be doing:

• Completing shift handovers and communicating the production schedule to the team.
• Monitoring raw-material availability and the efficiency of the batching process.
• Preparing the extruder for start-up and confirming that the correct die plates are used.
• Monitoring machine temperature, speed, feed rate and product quality.
• Measuring kibble size and density and accurately recording process parameters.
• Adjusting settings to keep products within specification.
• Monitoring moisture, water activity, drying, cooling and coating processes.
• Responding to system alarms and escalating unresolved technical issues.
• Performing minor repairs and supporting scheduled maintenance.
• Maintaining hygiene, housekeeping, food-safety and OHS standards.

Requirements

What makes you a great fit?

• Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• At least three years’ extrusion experience.
• Able to operate an extruder and understand the extrusion and drying processes.
• Knowledge of product specifications, water activity and moisture.
• Practical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• A quality mindset, sense of urgency and strong attention to detail.
• Willing to work shifts.
