Fabrication Manager at DAV Professional Placement Group

The main duties include inter alia the following:

• Manage the resources (machine, manpower and material) within the Fabrication and Springs Departments to achieve the production plans
• Manage capacity constraints and initiate capital replacement or increased capacity
•  Ensure Kanban availability for DOPS picking is maintained at a high level
• Ensure Quality standards are maintained for all components
• Oversee the handling of clock cards, attendance records and hiring/dismissal of personnel
•  Generating man-hour reports, shop utilisation and time reports
• Support and participate in any production related managerial role
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement
• Ensure technology of department is kept up-to-date
• Enforce compliance with all Security and loss control procedures and standards
• Enforce strict housekeeping procedures
• Safe storage of hazardous materials and chemicals
• Input into Operational expenditure
• Input into Capital expenditure and/or equipment replacement
• Manage sections to work within the constraints of budgeted costs
• Ensure safety procedures followed by staff
• Self-Management
• Other responsibility requested by Management

 Qualifications and experience:

•  Grade 12 / Matric
• National Diploma or B-Tech Mechanical Engineering
• 8 - 10 years’ experience in Manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial position
• Must have experience in high volume and various production processes
• Computer literate
