    Farm Manager

    Job Advert Summary    

    • An opportunity has become available within Supreme Poultry (Agri Division) for a senior team member at our Bloemfontein Breeder Operation. We are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills combined with a deep, practical knowledge and understanding of Broiler breeders.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • At least 5 years Broiler Breeder Experience in a Management role
    • Exceptional people / team leadership skills - Coaching employees to help them develop a clear understanding of the requirements relating to Poultry Production, Animal Welfare, Food Safety and Quality and develop the team to ensure they have the capability to meet the performance goals
    • A good understanding of modern farming methods within the Poultry Industry
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word) 
    • Proficiency in English is essential in this position
    • Strong analytical skills relating to breeder technical aspects.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Manage all farm activities in compliance with standard operating procedures to achieve optimal and cost-effective production outputs.
    • Ensure effective operational planning and execution, including timely placements and depletions in line with production schedules and targets.
    • Maintain high standards of fertile egg production to optimise flock performance, hatchability, and overall production efficiency.
    • Implement and maintain strict biosecurity and hygiene protocols, including vaccination and disease prevention programmes.
    • Ensure the humane treatment of livestock in accordance with company standards and animal welfare requirements.
    • Monitor and drive flock performance improvements, including uniformity, point of lay cost (POLC), health, and welfare from placement through to depletion.
    • Record, monitor, and report weekly husbandry and production parameters accurately and timeously.
    • Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance of all farm infrastructure, equipment, and utilities is carried out timeously to minimise downtime and support consistent production performance.
    • Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging team involvement, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and proactively mitigating risks identified.
    • Foster effective teamwork and maintain productive working relationships, demonstrating professionalism, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure.
    • Attend to HR and IR-related matters in line with company policies and procedures.
