Field Service & Workshop Technician at Green Marble Recruitment

ROLE OVERVIEW: 

• The Field Service & Workshop Technician will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, overhaul, assembly, testing and commissioning of vacuum pumps, compressors and blowers. The role combines workshop-based repairs with independent field service, fault-finding and technical support at customer sites.

Minimum requirements:

• Mechanical/Electrical Diploma or relevant Red Seal Trade qualification.
• Proven experience in end-user repairs and technical knowledge of compressors, gas systems or pumps essential.
• Experience with vacuum pumps, blowers or other industrial equipment advantageous.
• Medical gas installation experience advantageous.
• Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong mechanical and hands-on technical skills.
• Experience with valves, measuring instrumentation or leak detectors advantageous.
• Strong customer service and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Inspect, service, repair, overhaul, assemble, test and commission vacuum pumps, compressors and blowers.
• Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs at customer sites.
• Conduct technical inspections, fault-finding and on-site problem solving.
• Install and repair vacuum pumps and systems on site.
• Complete workshop repairs and ensure equipment meets required quality and technical standards.
• Communicate professionally with customers by telephone and email.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with technicians, engineers, maintenance managers, consultants, contractors, distributors and end users.
• Develop the field service business and assist with securing active service contracts.
• Track previous services and proactively follow up with customers for repeat servicing.
• Work with the Sales Team to develop service and customer strategies.
• Identify opportunities to grow service revenue and customer relationships.
• Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly reports on time.
• Provide regular and accurate feedback to management.
• Travel to customer sites and within Africa when required.
• Manage multiple tasks while maintaining service quality and technical standards.
• Work independently towards service, customer and business objectives.
