Field Supervisor (Contract Appointment: 10 Months) (2nd year Casework and 3rd Year Group Work): Department of Social Work
2nd Year Casework: Supervise students in applying the Problem Management Model, analysing client systems, and formulating intervention strategies. Ensure students demonstrate a "Person-in-Environment" perspective.
3rd Year Group Work: Guide students in planning educational groups for youth, conducting holistic assessments of group members, and practicing non-discriminatory social work.
Field supervisor accompanies the students to the school or organisation on Thursdays, usually at 10h00.
Field Supervisor must mark the reports and return them before 12h00 on Wednesdays. Students cannot continue with the session if they have not received the feedback.
The Field Supervisor conducts weekly, usually on Fridays, individual (60 minutes) supervision sessions to review work and assist in conceptualising learning experiences.
Facilitate the integration of theory (e.g., Systems Theory, Planned Change Process) into practical reports and reflections.
Maintain detailed assessment records and participate in oral examination panels.
Inherent Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Social Sciences on NQF Level 8.
Active registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker (attach proof).
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience with specific expertise in Casework and Group Work.
In-depth knowledge of the theories taught at UFS, including the Problem Management Model
Recommendations:
Ability to guide students through complex ethical decision-making in day-to-day practice.
Prior experience supervising students in casework and/or group settings.
Excellent written and engaging oral communication skills.
