    Finance Operations Manager

    Job Description

    • We are recruiting on behalf of our client in the financial telecommunications industry and they are looking for a seasoned, influential financial leader who thrives in a high-performance, fast-paced, scaling environment.
    • The ideal candidate brings both strategic financial expertise and proven leadership experience, ensuring the finance function not only supports but accelerates the businessʼ growth. This person is a strategist and culture-carrier, able to build strong teams, drive operational excellence, and make high-impact decisions quickly and confidently.  Someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a dynamic environment.
    • The candidate will oversee the full operational finance function, including tax, annual financial statements, management accounting, and related processes.  You will lead the modernization of finance operations, conducting process reviews and driving optimization initiatives to improve efficiency across the business.
    • The role includes steering the annual budgeting process beyond numerical preparation, managing the annual audit and maintaining the auditor relationship, and overseeing capex planning and motivation.
    • Additionally, you will review and enhance staff contracts, KPIs, incentive structures, and annual performance processes to support a high-performing finance team.

    Requirements

    • 6 - 9 years relevant experience within a finance function including excellent people management
    • Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Accounting Science or equivalent degree
    • CA(SA) preferred but CIMA / MBA may be considered

    Key Responsibilities

    Systems and process management

    • Ensuring that the Financial systems ERP and Reporting) are operating effectively across all entities in the appropriate area of responsibility.
    • Investigate and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiencies in the team (i.e. better use of data imports etc)
    • Liaise with BI to ensure that the transactional data received is relevant, accurate, complete and received on time.
    • Review reporting to ensure that all the relevant dimensions are posted.
    • Ensure that appropriate processes are in place in order to identify potential problems and escalate when required.
    • Attend weekly Ops meetings to ensure that all issues and queries are being addressed and escalated based on priority.
    • Ensure appropriate processes are in place to ensure that the team operates efficiently and meets group deadlines.

    Cash Flow Management Support

    • Various Cash flow forecasting
    • Analysis of actual performance versus forecasts
    • Daily cash flow management and reporting
    • Weekly and monthly cash flow reporting to various stakeholders
    • Adhoc projects identified by Management

    Team Management

    • Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
    • Openly communicate with managers and team members to ensure that all key deliverables are met on time and accurately and any queries are resolved timeously.
    • Effectively feed information to required members of the team to ensure all important updates are understood and adhered to.
    • Manage othersʼ expectations appropriately and proactively communicate any potential problems.
    • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to all direct reports to ensure that each team is working efficiently and cohesively.
    • Daily team management and assistance.
    • Bi-annual KPI setting of objectives with teams.
    • Bi-annual appraisals of team members

    • Experience in Navision
    • Knowledge of IFRS
