Finance Power BI Developer - Cape Town at AFA - Accounting and Financial Advisory

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Power BI Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, coupled with exceptional technical skills in Power BI development. The Finance Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing customized Power BI solutions to support financial data analysis, reporting, and visualization for our organization. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with finance, accounting, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand their needs for financial data analysis and reporting.
• Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards to visualize financial data, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, profitability analysis, and other key financial metrics.
• Build data models in Power BI to integrate financial data from multiple sources such as ERP systems, spreadsheets, databases, and other data repositories.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries to extract and transform data from various sources into Power BI datasets.
• Implement data cleansing and transformation processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency in financial reports and analyses.
• Collaborate closely with IT teams to ensure data governance, security, and compliance standards are met within the Power BI solutions.
• Stay up to date with the latest Power BI features, best practices, and industry trends to continuously improve and optimize financial reporting and analysis capabilities.
• Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use and interpret financial reports and dashboards in Power BI.
• Chart creation and data documentation explaining algorithms, parameters, models, and relations.
• Redefine and make technical/strategic changes to enhance existing Business Intelligence systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, Power BI) will be a plus.
• Proven experience working as a Power BI Developer with a strong focus on finance and accounting data analysis and reporting.
• Expertise in Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View, and Power Map.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience in data modeling and working with relational databases.
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, financial analysis, and financial reporting processes.
• Proficient in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and creating complex calculations within Power BI.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and their data structures in the finance domain.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into meaningful insights.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams and present financial analysis findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
