Financial Controller at SolarAfrica Energy Pty Ltd

Job Description:

The Financial Controller oversees the Company’s day-to-day activities and ensures the Company’s finance function is organised and efficient and produces accurate financial and management accounts.

The successful candidate will need to have 2-3 years of proven experience in a similar role with a financial certification or qualification

Position of the job in the organisation:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager on all matters.  

Principal responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows
• Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes
• Preparation of monthly group P&L and balance sheet
• Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports
• Statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax issues
• Support Financial Manager with the cash flow process
• Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained for all payments.
• Preparation of VAT returns (assisted by accounting team on a contract basis within the regions mentioned)
• Correspondence with SARS to resolve pending tax queries
• Any other job duties associated with this role.

PERSON DESCRIPTION

Experience:

• Previous financial control and management reporting experience
• Proven experience of 2-3 years of progressive financial responsibility must be shown
• Accounting experience in a medium sized company
• Use of all Microsoft Office packages, in particular, Intermediate Excel Skills
• Good communication skills - to be able to interpret financial data
• Have an understanding of  VAT and Tax principles
• A financial certification or qualification is to your advantage
