Financial Reporting Accountant at Communicate Recruitment

• An exciting opportunity exists for a detail-oriented and driven finance professional to join a high-performing external reporting team. The successful candidate will take ownership of external financial reporting activities to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of reports to a range of stakeholders, including internal governance structures, external auditors, analysts, regulators, and the broader investment community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of monthly financial reporting deliverables, including results analysis and commentary gathering in collaboration with analytics teams.
• Own the end-to-end process of preparing and updating external reports, including financial booklets, SENS announcements, financial statements and public advertisements.
• Ensure the accuracy of financial statements and completeness of disclosures in line with IFRS, JSE Listings Requirements, the Companies Act, and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) regulations.
• Respond to queries from rating agencies, internal stakeholders, external auditors, financial analysts, and the JSE.
• Conduct bi-annual reviews of the group and bank’s financial statements to ensure alignment with IFRS and other relevant external requirements.
• Contribute to training sessions to ensure the team remains updated on IFRS changes and reporting standards.
• Support the preparation of governance reports for audit and compliance committees and the board.
• Engage with design teams to oversee the layout and production of external reports, ensuring timely sign-offs from all internal stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

• CA(SA)
• Minimum 1-3 years' post-articles experience in external financial reporting or a technical accounting role.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, JSE Listings Requirements, the Companies Act, and the regulatory environment within the financial services industry.
