RPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable consulting engineering firm based in Pretoria is currently seeking to appoint a skilled Fire Designer to join their multidisciplinary building services team.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing fire protection and fire detection designs for commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments
Developing detailed Revit models and technical drawings
Coordinating fire services with HVAC, wet services, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines
Assisting with smoke ventilation and sprinkler system layouts
Producing technical documentation and construction drawings
Ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
Participating in project coordination meetings and resolving design clashes
Requirements:
Relevant qualification in Draughting, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or similar
Proven experience in fire protection and fire detection design within a consulting engineering environment
Strong proficiency in Revit is essential
Experience using AutoCAD and other relevant design software advantageous
Sound understanding of fire protection systems, sprinkler systems, fire detection, and smoke ventilation design
Knowledge of relevant fire design standards and building regulations
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary project team
Strong Revit modelling and detailing capability
Good understanding of BIM coordination processes
Attention to detail and strong technical ability
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
