    FMCG Electrician

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain electrical and electronic components in bottling operations, maximizing production efficiency with PLCs.
    • Improve bottling line efficiency by adjusting automated controls.
    • Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair packaging machinery, demonstrating expertise in PLC environments.
    • Assist mechanics with electrical issues and provide support to production line staff.
    • Fault finding on electronic controls (VFDs, HMIs, PLCs) and install/terminate wiring for new equipment.
    • Keep current with the latest developments in bottling line control and maintain backup programs for all PLCs.
    • Train new Electrical technicians and maintain spare parts inventory.
    • Understand and adhere to ISO, Safety, and Quality Policies.
    • Interface with vendors to maintain a support network.
    • Setup and modify parameters in inspection systems (FBI/Checkmats).

    Work Environment:

    • Works outdoors/indoors in varying climates.
    • Works in high places, on wet surfaces, and near moving parts.
    • Exposure to loud noise, fumes, and toxic chemicals.

    Requirements:

    • Completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in the FMCG industry.
    • Minimum N6 or Equivalent Red Seal trade test.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in FMCG, specializing in bottling, labelling, and packaging equipment repairs.
    • Network and/or electrical certifications are a plus.
    • Computer literacy in MS Office and integrated work order/inventory systems.
    • Experience reading and using equipment manuals, drawings, and electrical schematics.
    • Able to lift heavy items.
    • Must have a driver's license and own a vehicle.
    • Willing to work 8 and 12-hour shifts, and open to standby work.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Ability to perform changes to PLC and HMI programs.
    • Ability to create electrical documentation and operational manuals.
    • Ability to design and document electrical control wiring using AutoCAD.
    • Ability to wire and terminate electrical controls and motors.
    • Ability to use electrical meters.
