    Food Service Aid

    Requirements :

    • Abet level 4 or equivalent.
    • Competencies: Knowledge in hygiene, safety and cooking will be an added advantage. Basic food and hygiene knowledge and issues relating to food service.
    • Candidate will be working shifts, on weekends and public holidays. Must be able to read and write. Skills: Good communication and writing skills. Effective team working skills. Must be able to do work of a physical nature. Work shifts and public holidays according to duty roster as required. Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles and National Priorities.
    • Personal qualities: ability to work independently and as part of a team. High motivation level. Excellent interpersonal qualities. Enthusiasm and serve of humour. Assertiveness. Ability to maintain good human relations.

    Duties :

    • Perform routine task in food service unit and perform the general cleaning task assigned to him/her, apply and maintain hygiene and safety measures in the unit. Carrying heavy crates, packing and withdrawing of cook freeze food in the refrigerator.
    • Do preparation, breakfast cooking, portioning according to portion control measures and deliver food to the wards, garnish of food, labelling and serving of food according to patient.
    • Assist when there is a function, be prepared to relieve in all areas of food service when required. Comply with infection prevention control standards. Responsible for food supplies and report waste and losses. Maintain quality control measures of all food provided.
