For-Profit Ventures, Short Term Consultancy - (980) at mothers2mothers

Scope of Work (SOW):

• The Consultant will work closely with m2m staff tasked with driving and supporting the development of m2m’s for-profit ventures. 

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Support the due diligence process regarding establishing an m2m for-profit entity.
• Research prospective clients' needs, competitors' activities, and promising avenues in support of m2m’s for-profit strategic objective.
• Conduct desk research - including compiling relevant case studies, gathering data to inform appropriate risk assessments, gathering information in support of business concept development, business case development, etc.
• Consult with a range of stakeholders, including conducting formal interviews.
• Consolidate information and conduct complex analysis in order to find new for-profit opportunities aligned with m2m’s vision and mission.
• Progressively lead the resulting Business Concept Development, Business Case Development and Business Plan Development.
• Provide recommendations based on research and analysis performed.
• Draft short- and long-term, actionable plans in support of m2m for-profit ventures. 

Deliverables:

• Deliverables will be shaped by the task at hand and will range from verbal and written briefs, formal and informal reports, business concept documents, business cases, business plans and all output in support of the SOW. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• Preferably a Masters Degree in Business Administration or similar relevant field, such as quantitative finance, economics, etc.
• Thorough understanding of harnessing the power of business / social enterprises in the health and development sector.
• Proven experience in business start-up development and operations required – in a Global South context. 
• Extensive experience as a business development consultant or equivalent.
• Skilled at / demonstrable track record in developing realistic strategic business concepts, business cases, and business plans.
• Experience in communicating for-profit business strategies to staff to obtain their buy-in, and to motivate staff to ensure understanding of and alignment with for-profit business strategies and ventures.
• A proven track record of providing actionable solutions.
• The ability to work in a team, as well as independently.
